"Conquest" est à part dans la discographie d'Uriah Heep puisqu'il contient l'unique apparition du chanteur John Sloman (LoneStar) et Chris Slade (futur batteur d'Ac/dc).

Néanmoins dans sa forme, l'on reconnait parfaitement la signature d'Uriah Heep, tant certaines compositions dans la lignée de ce qu'ils ont toujours fait.

Bien sûr ce n'est peut-être pas le meilleur album du groupe mais néanmoins je ne trouve pas qu'il soit si mauvais que cela, loin s'en faut.

Il contient même d'excellents moments ici et là. ("Feelings" surtout pour ses couplets, le final de "No return", l'intro d'"Out on the street").

Ces passages sont remarquables de par les interventions de notre frontman inédit, possédant une voix communicative et envoûtante.

L'embauche de John Sloman n'est donc pour moi pas une erreur et aurait pû certainement être un atout pour le groupe s'il y avait eu une suite.

A mon avis, si cet album n'est pas parfait, on peut sans doute plus le reprocher à sa durée (seulement huit titres). (Laurent Jacquot)
