Riot signe avec ce troisième album sorti en 1981 un chef d'oeuvre de hard rock. sorti en plein boom de la new wave of british heavy metal, ce fire down under est l'oeuvre d'un groupe US que son ancien label avait décidé de dégager après la sortie de l'album "Narita". Ils avaient même estimé que "fire down under" était trop heavy metal et pas assez commercial! un comble car si l'on écoute cet album, on est loin du pur heavy metal période "thundersteel" ou "privilege of power (yan bono)
